BDO Luxembourg Expands its Market Presence with the Appointment of 3 New Partners

To further enhance its position in key market areas, BDO Luxembourg is pleased to announce the recent promotion of one partner and the direct appointment of two new partners.

Damien Appasamy – Audit & Assurance

Damien has an overall experience of 20 years, focusing on the external audit of commercial and industrial companies, but also international groups and real estate structures. He joined BDO in 2010 following a first experience with Big Four firms, in Mauritius and then in Luxembourg.
He works on assignments of stand-alone and consolidated financial statements, reporting in both LuxGAAP and IFRS and has a significant experience in cross-border engagements.

George Bagkalas – Funds Services
George has over 18 years of experience in Alternative Investments in Europe and the United States. He possesses extensive expertise in fund administration operations, investment vehicles, and company management, with a focus on private equity, venture capital and infrastructure. Before joining BDO, he held various senior positions at fund service providers in Luxembourg and in the United States. He holds degrees in Management from Harvard Business School and the London School of Economics.

Sylvie Leick – Personal Tax
Sylvie assumes the lead of our Personal Tax practice. She has more than 20 years of experience assisting organizations with the numerous aspects linked to employees’ mobility, including personal income tax, shadow payroll, taxation of equity in an international context, social security, immigration, cross-border workers considerations. She has gained extensive knowledge in all aspects of Luxembourg personal income tax, compensation and reward matters and is involved in numerous working groups dealing with these matters. Prior joining BDO in November 2024, she was a tax partner at a Big 4 in Luxembourg.
